With this project, the school La Brise in Boitsfort launches a complete overhaul of its aging buildings. The classroom and administrative buildings will be dismantled and replaced by a new volume with a modern architecture. A two-storey building made out of timber will contain the classrooms and will be placed on top of the semi-buried first floor which is made of concrete.
The classroom part functions as a glulam columns and beams with ribbed CLT floors.
The prefabrication is pushed to the maximum on the whole project to optimize the time on the worksite.
The concrete structure of the ground floor is laid on a raft with local thickenings. Precast concrete walls are used for the walls and for the slabs, hollow core slabs will be placed where it is possible. In the central zone, where the structure is more open, the slab transmits its loads directly on the columns and thus functions as a mushroom slab.
The wooden structure rests on columns that take up glued laminated beams. The ribbed CLT floors are placed on these beams.
