The project is part of the Modul’Air project, which aims to research, develop, design and build prefabricated facades for housing renovation to improve indoor air quality. The Living Lab methodology was used to involve the tenants in defining the problem and its solutions.
A prefabricated and pre-insulated timber-framed facade solution was chosen. Each of the “layers” of the cladding facade was studied and compared from an energy, environmental and budgetary point of view. The speed with which the project was carried out on an occupied site meant that disruption to residents was kept to a minimum.
