Timber Engineering
Located on the Tour & Taxi site, right next to the Gare Maritime, the Atelier Tracteur, a small and complex building constructed at the beginning of the 20th century, was in a state of serious disrepair and in need of major renovation.
In addition to modifying the openings in the façade, the structural challenge lay mainly in studying the wooden roof structure. The timber frames were partially damaged as a result of waterproofing defects showing signs of fungal attack. We studied a scenario for preserving the existing frames as much as possible. Replacing only the elements where necessary and adding reinforcements locally if required.
We modelled the entire structure in order to draw up precise drawings of the calculated joints and reinforcement parts.
