As part of Belgium’s participation in the Venice Biennale, Bento was entrusted with the design of the Belgian Pavilion, creating a space that embodies simplicity, adaptability, and sustainability. Ney WOW collaborated closely with the architectural team throughout the process, from the structural study to prototyping and the on-site assembly. The pavilion showcases a thoughtful approach to timber construction, demonstrating how precise engineering can enhance architectural expression.
The pavilion’s structure highlights the use of FSC-certified beechwood, sourced directly from the Sonian Forest, emphasizing the project’s commitment to sustainability and local materials. The design leverages the structural properties of beechwood, chosen for its strength and natural elegance, ensuring a harmonious balance between aesthetics and functionality. Prefabrication played a central role in achieving the tight timeline, with components carefully engineered to allow rapid assembly on-site. The collaboration resulted in a robust yet delicate pavilion that exemplifies an integration of sustainable practices and innovative timber engineering.
