Located in Montignies-sur-Sambre, the Institut Paramédical de la Samaritaine is undergoing a major renovation as part of an ambitious modernization project led by the Province of Hainaut. Designed to meet the specific needs of teachers and students, the new building replaces the former dormitory and fully embraces a sustainable and innovative construction approach.
With a total area of 5,960 m² spread over three levels, the new building stands out from the rest of the site thanks to its entirely timber-based structure. This solution is based on:
A timber post-and-beam structure, ensuring both strength and flexibility in layout,
Ribbed CLT (Cross-Laminated Timber) slabs, optimizing mechanical and environmental performance,
Non-load-bearing façades made of prefabricated timber frame panels, maximizing off-site manufacturing and minimizing on-site disturbances.
This exemplary project has been designed to reduce its environmental impact while ensuring a discreet and efficient construction process. Thanks to extensive prefabrication, construction work causes minimal disruption to the daily activities of the school, which remains fully operational throughout the project.
