Heavy renovation (aesthetic and technical) and volumetric simplification of a building located in the city center housing 104 student rooms for the University of Mons. The composition of the facades respects the modular and serial character of the function of the building and offers a double reading with a vertical tendency.
The timber frame facades are made to receive a 300 mm thick insulation to obtain a low energy building. This represents around 1500 m² of prefabricated facades. These last ones will be suspended on the primary concrete frame by means of metal angles. The composition of the timber frame facades has been studied in order to meet criteria such as thermal performance, air seal, steam waterproofing or resistance and reaction to fire.
