Study Phase
Our team of engineers and 3D modellers works closely together to deliver a complete construction plan set.
1
Understanding the Project
This phase involves comprehensive discussions and analysis to grasp the project’s objectives, architectural vision, functional requirements, and constraints. It includes understanding the client’s needs, design concepts, and the intended use of the structure.
2
Determination of Assumptions (Loads, Geometry)
This step involves identifying and quantifying the anticipated loads the structure will bear, including live loads (such as occupants, furniture), dead loads (building materials), environmental loads (wind, snow), and seismic loads. It also entails understanding the geometry of the building, its dimensions, shapes, and spatial requirements.
3
Study of the Project's Structural System
Here, the focus is on determining the most suitable structural system(s) for the building. This includes evaluating various options like beams, columns, slabs, frames, or trusses, considering factors such as load-bearing capacity, flexibility, aesthetics, and cost- effectiveness. It also involves deciding the direction of spans for beams, slabs, and other structural elements.
4
Study of General Stability
This phase ensures that the structure can effectively resist imposed loads and maintain stability. It involves analyzing load distribution, considering factors like gravity, lateral forces (wind, seismic), and determining appropriate bracing systems to limit deformation and prevent collapse.
5
Optimization and Verification of Structural Elements
This step involves fine-tuning the structural elements (beams, columns, walls, etc.) for maximum efficiency and functionality. It includes analyzing section sizes, shapes, materials, and configurations to optimize performance while meeting safety standards and design requirements.
6
Determination of Foundations Based on Soil Tests
Conducting soil tests helps in assessing the soil’s bearing capacity and characteristics. This information guides the selection of suitable foundation types (shallow or deep foundations like footings, piles, or mats) to ensure the structure’s stability and longevity.
7
Design of Specific Structural Details
This involves designing crucial structural elements or connections that play a pivotal role in ensuring stability, safety, and
architectural aesthetics. It addresses aspects such as beam-column joints, foundation connections, or load-bearing elements crucial for the building’s integrity.
8
Technical Specifications and Bill of Quantities
Here, detailed technical specifications are developed, outlining the structural requirements, materials to be used, construction methods, quality standards, and other necessary details. These specifications are included in the tender documents for contractors bidding on the project.
Execution Phase
1
Analysis of Tender Documents and Advice
This involves reviewing and analyzing the construction tender documents, offering guidance, and providing expert advice to the client, ensuring that the structural aspects align with the project’s objectives and requirements.
2
Reinforcement of Reinforced Concrete Elements
This consist of conducting the calculations to determine the additional rebar needed within concrete elements. Detailed rebar drawing plans are generated to illustrate the placement, quantity and specifications of the reinforcements.
3
Verification of Prefabrication Documents
Verifying prefabrication documents ensures that the prefabricated components align with the approved structural designs and specifications, ensuring consistency and quality in construction.
4
Site Visits During Execution Phase
Ney & Partners WOW offers on-site visits, as requested by the architect, to oversee the execution of stability works integral to the project. This includes providing guidance on structural aspects, ensuring adherence to design specifications, and offering assistance in site management for the critical components.
